Hackney Unites meeting onthe impact of the cuts with guest speaker Lee Jasper

Hackney Unites and Black Activists Rising Against the Cuts are holding a joint meeting to discuss the impact of the government's cuts agenda on Hackney's diverse communities. There will be a round table discussion with speakers including Lee Jasper, and local community activists.

The first hour will be a traditional meeting, but with a focus on what we can do to protect our communities. During the second hour we will break into groups to explore tactics and strategy for mobilising our communities. There will also be a session of Hackney Unites' Workers Advice Project.

Volunteer Centre Hackney Props Project loses funding

For 2 years Volunteer Centre Hackney (VCH) have run the Props project which supports people with mental health problems and ex-offenders. Until recently, the project, which costs £66,500, has been funded by the local NHS primary care trust and the Lloyds TSB Foundation. None of this funding will be renewed after the current financial year.
