Professor Eileen Munro’s eagerly awaited and wide-ranging review of frontline child protection practices has now been published.

Arguing that the current system is failing to focus on the needs of the child and the journey they take through the child protection system, the Munro Review’s final report, ‘A child-centred system’ (May 2011), outlines a radical new approach to improve the quality of child protection services in the UK.

This timely symposium offers an invaluable opportunity to:

·Analyse and assess the Munro Review recommendations for developing a child-centred protection system

·Examine how to work in partnership to improve early intervention and prevention methods

·Explore how to up-skill the social care workforce, through better training and career development

·Discuss how to improve and expand multi-agency working, increasing accountability and sharing best practice
